Daisy Lowe For Morgan First Look

So today see's the release of Daisy Lowe's collection for Morgan. I may repeat myself from the previous post on this but whatever. The facts: it's a one off range, exclusive to certain stores in France, however it is also available online and it is the first time Morgan have ever collaborated with a celebrity designer. Oh, also it's been named ' l'Oiseau de Nuit' meaning night owl! Cool. From what i've seen it looks pretty good, capes, leather jackets, graphic print tees, lace. Standard rock n' roll but with a French chic feel.
So i found a few things...
Theres this website, where people upload there looks and you vote. Don't really understand much else of whats going on because it's all in French. But if you can understand it please message me and let me know!

Also i found this video, shows a few looks and a bit of the designing stage. But it has some awful electronic funk stuff going on in the background. Sorry.

Alexander McQueen at Paris Fashion Week

If you had any doubt about Sarah Burton being the right girl for the job, look no further. This collection is everything the late Lee Alexander McQueen could have hoped for and again a perfect homage to the man. I was wondering the other day if Sarah Burton was scared to do anything other than what you'd expect from McQueen, maybe she doesn't want to upset anyone by giving it her own twist. Then i thought no, this is the McQueen image, she helped to build. Anything else would be out of place. So i'm happy to see the return on low-rise trousers, strong shoulders, big prints and some incredible shapes. Also in other news, the McQ label has now gone back to being run and over seen by the Alexander McQueen label with Sarah Burton at the helm.

Amy Winehouse x Fred Perry

So back in March we heard that Amy would be collaborating with legendary label Fred Perry. They're come up with a 17 piece collection. With pretty everything you could want: pencil skirts, polo shirts, jumper dresses and a coat. I've got to say it looks pretty rock 'n' roll, i'm really into the look. Shame Amy still looks like a crack head. So anyway here's a few flicks from the look book.

Viktor And Rolf SS 2011

Another unbelievable collection from the unstoppable duo. Their spring look is based around the man button up shirt. Creating multi-sleeved huge (always huge with Viktor and Rolf) dresses! They've also come up with some softer white satin dresses and blouses. But note the collars and cuffs, reverting back to the classic mens shirt. There was a large amount of victorian esque lace adding a more elegant feel to the collection. After the last collection, we saw Florence Welch sporting one of the ruffled tule collections in 'Hurricane Drunk' music video. Which pop star do you think will be first to snap up one of these creations? Lady Gaga prehaps?

X-Men Vs. Terry Richardson

Not really sure what is going on here. But in Marvel X-Men comic issue 528, they printed this little scene. I think it's fair to say they are referencing the recent allegations against Terry Richardson. "Barry Richardmans s0-called art is cheap exploitative porn!" "What he does to models is borderline assault and unquestionably cruel!"
Its all a bit confusing as, yes that is an obvious dig. But at the end of the story, they save the art gallery. That some vigilantes burn to try and ruin "Barry Richardmans" works. I'll leave it up to you to decide.

Dolce & Gabbana SS 2011

In comes the over sized, huge, hippy, mis-matched floral prints with D&Gs spring cat walk at Milan Fashion Week. They sited their muse as Snow White and she even makes an appearance printed on a t-shirt. The play suits are cute, the head scarf are a great touch too. It's, well... springy!

Julien Macdonald S/S 2011

Julien Macdonalds spring summer cat walk lived up to his 'sexy woman' theme. Legs, lace, sweeping chiffons. Looks incredible, very much following the under wear as outerwear theme.

Hannah Marshall S/S 2011

After opening her collection with her usual colour palette. Black. Hannah Marshall did something different for her spring/summer collection. Grey. Still a neutral colour, it worked brilliantly with all the layers of chiffon, creating a powerful yet minimalist look. Dresses featured quills of pleats, lots of shoulder on show and all fell above the knee. I think this is a wonderful collection.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label S/S 2011

Right, i've been fucking terrible at blogging recently. I've been rushed off my feet doing various things and i've taken a bit of time away. So yeah i'm sorry about that, but a mans got to do what a mans got to do. I'm not going to catch up on what i've missed. I'm just going to jump straight back in.
Anyway, what better way to start that looking at Vivienne Westwoods London Fashion Week collection. Daisy Lowe started the collection off with her face painted up like a warrior, in reference and homage to the human rights charity Reprieve. Westwood showed off sultry pencil dresses, cowl necklines, frills, draped jersey frocks and her usual obscure tailoring. I felt this collection was quite feminin for Westwood, but looks beautiful.

Louis Vuitton 100 Legendary Trunks

So a new book (that i desperately want) documenting Louis Vuittons history of making luggage, primarily their famous trunks. It's said to include over 800 photos, and will drop this October. Sweet. Also there's this funky video to promote it!

BIBA!

I don't think i've ever been so excited for a high street fashion release! But it's here, and i can barely hold my excitement! THE RETURN OF BIBA!
After the closure in the late 70s, this iconic brand of the 60's and 70's, has finally surfaced. It is to come in the form of boutiques in House Of Fraser, designed by their own in house designers.
We can expect; faux fur coats, marabou jackets, evening dresses, tailored blazers, denim and jewellery. I hope there are some huge Biba logos involved in this! So the 35 piece collection is set to hit the House Of Fraser on the 8th September. I have yet to find a list of stores, but am aware there will only be 10 such boutiques. Prices are rumoured to be around £290 for a coat, going with the "aspirational but accessible" tag line.
Oh and did i mention Daisy Lowe is going to be the face of new Biba! Daisy Lowe said she loves it because of the "history of it", she then went on to say "I think because there are boutiques it will really bring people back. There are brilliant pieces - the coats are amazing and there's this beautiful butterfly ring that goes across two fingers".

Daisy Lowe For Morgan

Okay, so here's a real sneak peak at Daisy Lowe's range for Morgan. Only being released in France (with prices ranging between 25 and 349 euros). Lowe says she'd been approached by many English brands, but they wouldn't give her enough creative input. So that's why she's decided to go with the French. I think this could be one to look out for! Heard it may also be up for sale online! So you don't have to be in Paris to pick it up!

Sass And Bide

Alright so word on the street is that Australian brand Sass & Bide are looking to set up their first UK street store. I love their use of monochrome print and pattern. Sighting their main influence as Dover Street Market, i'm really interested to see what comes up! Take a look at a few of their current pieces!

Jean Paul Gaultier Fall Couture Collection

This homage to 50's Parisian fashion with clinched waists, different cuts, turbans, red lipstick and cigarette holders is great! Those turbans always remind me of gypsy's at the fair. The strong use of black and gold works really well, i love the cut aways on all the pieces. He utilises lots of materials; sheer fabrics, with a bit of Gaultier lingerie detailing (it'd be impossible not to!), silks and satins. So Karlie Kloss stole the catwalk! But then one last surprise from Gaultier! Dita Von Teese appeared at the end for a special strip show!
